Biography
Samuel Leroy Jackson was born December 21st, 1948 in Washington (D.C.), USA. He grew up in Tennesee and loved music, wanted to become a trumpeter even. But because he stuttered, he moved into the theater group at school, to get the healing effect for it.
1972 Samuel L. Jackson graduated in theatersciences at the Morehouse College in Atlanta. He was seen in Homer, The District Line and Mother Courage and her Children. And after his film debut in the movie Together for days he appeared (short) in Ragtime, Uncle Tom's cabin, The Price of Zamunde with Eddie Murphy and Do the Right Thing. Later he said to have had drug problems at that time, though he is clean since 1991.
In the early 1990s he showed his talent in God Fellas, Hour of the Patriots with Harrison Ford and Jurassic Park. We all know him from the cult movie Pulp Fiction, which was the big breakthrough for him with already 46 years. For this role as the killer Jules he was nominated for an Oscar and won a Golden Globe.1995 he was Bruce Willis' partner in Die Hard: With a Vengeance, one year later in the Jury and Deadly Christmas. In the end of the 1990s he was again in a Quentin Tarantino movie: Jackie Brown and in Sphere, Out of Sight and besides Kevin Spacey in the movie the Negotiator. One of his biggest wishes were fullfilled when he got offered the role of the wise and strong Jedi Master Mace Windu in the Star Wars prequel series. Samuel L. Jackson continued with the red Violine in 1998, and he voiced Officer Frank Tenpenny in the video game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
